Top Athletes Are Hosting A 5-Day Festival In Place Of Olympic Games. Here’s What To Expect & How To Participate.
Travel Andy News | The Opening Ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games was meant to take place in July this year. However, the event has been postponed to next year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But even though we’ll have to wait another year, the Olympian and Paralympian spirit is being kept alive with a 5-day athletic festival this summer.
Hosted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and Airbnb, the summer festival will feature more than 100 Olympian and Paralympian experiences. The event is to be hosted virtually by some of the world’s best athletes.
Thomas Bach, IOC President, said, “The Olympic Games bring the whole world together and whilst we will all have to wait one more year to celebrate in Tokyo, the Olympic flame continues to be the light at the end of the dark tunnel humankind is currently going through. It demonstrates that we are stronger together.”
